About

Hello, I'm Kate Stapleton

My Health and Fitness Story

I haven't always been slim, and my relationship with food, fitness and my body has never been a simple before-and-after story.

My journey has included 24 years of addiction, followed by the life-changing process of getting clean and sober. Recovery gave me my life back, but it did not instantly remove every compulsive pattern. After I stopped using drugs, sugar became another source of comfort and reward, and for a time I experienced it as another addiction.

I have also battled disordered eating and body dysmorphia. I understand how exhausting it can be to feel caught between wanting to change your body and struggling to feel at peace within it. I know what it is like to believe that becoming smaller will finally make you feel worthy—only to discover that genuine wellbeing requires something deeper than a number on the scales.

These experiences are why my approach to weight loss is not based on shame, punishment or extreme restriction. I do not believe people need to be bullied into changing. I believe they need practical tools, honest support and a better understanding of the physical, emotional and behavioural patterns influencing them.

Today, I live with Multiple Sclerosis, ADHD, bipolar and physical disability, but I refuse to define health solely by what my body cannot do. I am now pursuing a natural bodybuilding journey focused on strength, capability, mobility and sustainable progress. I am learning to work with my body rather than continually fighting against it—and to value what it can achieve without demanding perfection from it.

My work brings together personal training, nutrition, hypnotherapy and coaching because lasting change rarely comes from addressing only one part of a person. Movement matters. Nutrition matters. But so do habits, emotions, beliefs, self-image and the ability to keep going when motivation disappears.

I do not present myself as someone who has always found health and fitness easy. I bring lived experience of addiction, recovery, disability, body-image struggles and rebuilding from the ground up. That experience allows me to meet people with compassion while still helping them take meaningful responsibility for their next step.

KS Weight Loss is not about fixing a broken person or chasing somebody else's version of the perfect body. It is about understanding your patterns, developing strength and creating a healthier way forward—one realistic decision at a time.

Why

Why I created KS Weight Loss

KS Weight Loss exists because change built on shame, punishment or extreme restriction rarely lasts. The intention behind it is simple: to give people support that treats them as a whole person, rather than another plan to follow on their own.

Belief

Whole-person change

Training, food, mindset and accountability are not separate problems. When they are worked on together, with someone who knows your context, change tends to be steadier and easier to keep.
